The Application of Advanced Imaging Technology to Saudi Arabian Rock Art

Chariot and Horses (detail), Jubbah

This style of depicting a chariot and its team of horses in plan view is distinctive and unique for Saudi Arabia. Stylistically similar petroglyphs have been recorded from various parts of Eurasia from Sweden to Mongolia, suggesting the possibility of ancient cultural contacts among the peoples of the Arabian Peninsula and points to the north during the Bronze Age, circa 1800-1200 BCE.
